Time and time again, Americans have been told by the Democrat Party about the importance of clean energy, ending greenhouse gas emissions, phasing out fossil fuels, and more.
The ongoing anti-energy agenda driven by Democrats is rooted in the party’s worries about climate change. However, while most Americans care about the environment, people also understand the role that resources like oil and pipelines play in everyday living.
Without access to oil, many of the products people take for granted would no longer exist. Ironically, even the electric vehicles that are so loved by the political left need oil for construction purposes.
However, the crusade against natural energy and resources still persists on the left. Not too long ago, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made sure to throw in her own two cents on the matter.
An Environmentally Friendly Engagement Ring?
Weeks ago, Americans learned the New York congresswoman is set to marry her longtime boyfriend, Riley Roberts. Ocasio-Cortez and Roberts have been together since their time as Boston University undergraduates.
Naturally, the news of the couple’s engagement brought attention to the congresswoman’s engagement ring.
Following the news of Ocasio-Cortez and Roberts’ union, one of her supporters tweeted that unless the engagement ring was made of tinfoil, right-wingers would supposedly flip out.
To this end, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted back, saying her ring was “close” to tinfoil. According to the congresswoman, Roberts proposed to her with a ring made of recycled gold, thereby steering clear of greenhouse gas emissions.
Some diamond experts have raised questions about the accuracy of Ocasio-Cortez’s claims about her ring. According to jewelry store owner Peter Kahan, “recycled gold” is somewhat of an oxymoron.
Kahan mentioned that gold, in and of itself, never gets wasted, thus causing it to be recycled by default. He also mentioned Ocasio-Cortez’s description of her engagement ring as a “marketing term,” citing the rare nature of “new gold.”
More Advocacy From AOC
The congresswoman’s use of her engagement ring to promote Democrats’ climate change agenda is far from an outlier.
In recent days, the New York Democrat has joined the chorus of people calling for more gun control to be imposed on the American public.
Ironically, though, amid calling for law-abiding Americans to face more gun restrictions, Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t stopped spending top dollar on her own armed private security.
