Armed man learns consequences after threatening permit holder

During a heated argument on Chicago’s South Side Monday night, a concealed-carry permit holder fired at an individual who brandished a weapon, according to police statements to WLS-TV.

The confrontation occurred around 9 p.m. along the 7200 block of S. South Shore Drive, as reported by law enforcement officials.

The incident began when a 30-year-old man engaged in a verbal dispute with an individual seated in a vehicle. The situation escalated when the car’s occupant displayed a firearm, prompting the concealed carry license holder to discharge his weapon, striking the other person in the chest.

Following the shooting, the wounded individual managed to transport himself to a nearby medical facility. Medical staff expect him to recover from his injuries. Police subsequently took him into custody at the hospital, with charges pending review.

Law enforcement officials secured a weapon from the scene as detectives continue their investigation into the incident.
