U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo called for Americans to politically “extinguish” Donald Trump following a second assassination attempt against the former president.
Speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Raimondo criticized Trump’s claim to be a “protector” of women, referencing his speech at a rally in Pennsylvania.
She attributed the overturning of Roe v. Wade to Trump and expressed her frustration with his messaging, calling it “enraging” and “belittling.”
“When I saw that, when I saw the ‘protector,’ it was enraging, it was bloodcurdling, and it’s BS. Not only is it wrong and a lie, it belittles us,” Raimondo said. “We’re not that stupid. We know he’s lying and we don’t need baloney telling us he’ll protect us, we know the facts of how he feels about women, he’s disrespectful to women, putting it mildly and he’s the one that overturned Roe … What he says is the opposite. It’s just another lie. Like, how did we get here? Let’s extinguish [Trump] for good. We have an answer, we have a remarkably talented candidate who is sincere, who is pragmatic, who is open. Let’s just get it done.”
. @GinaRaimondo needs to resign. If a Republican went on television and said that we need to extinguish Kamala Harris, there would be calls for that person’s resignation with pitchforks in the street.

When co-host Mika Brzezinski asked for clarification, Raimondo responded, “Vote him out. Banish him from American politics, yes. Just vote him out so that he goes away.”
The remarks come shortly after a second assassination attempt on Trump, where 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh allegedly aimed an AK-47-style rifle at the former president while he was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida. Federal prosecutors charged Routh with attempted assassination and other related offenses.
Despite two recent attempts on President Trump’s life, so far today:
– Sec. of Commerce Gina Raimondo told MSNBC that Democrats need to “extinguish Trump for good.”

Trump and his supporters have pointed to the Biden administration’s rhetoric as a potential cause for the assassination attempts, citing frequent statements labeling Trump a “threat to democracy.”
