Border Sheriffs Slam Liberal Mayors For Declaring Emergency Over Migrant Buses: ‘They Have Seen Nothing’

Democratic Mayors Lori Lightfoot (Chicago), Muriel Bowser (Washington D.C.), and Eric Adams (New York City) have complained about migrant buses arriving from the Texas border full of illegal immigrants.

Sheriffs from border towns in Texas like Sheriff Roy Boyd simply reply: “They have seen nothing. They are not a border town. They don’t know what a border town is.”

The controversy started when the republican governors of Texas and Arizona, Greg Abbott and Doug Ducey, began sending buses of migrants to Washington D.C., then New York City, and most recently Chicago. All three of these cities are “sanctuary cities” for illegal immigrants.

On August 5, Abbott went as far as to call Mayor Eric Adams (D.-N.Y.) out by name: “Because of President Biden’s continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the State of Texas has had to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe. In addition to Washington, D.C., New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city. I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.”

With the full support of their governors, sheriffs in Texas border towns are joining in on the action. They are facing incredible numbers of migrants trying to cross into their towns every day while waiting for the federal government to send aid. When they did not, Texas and Arizona took things into their own hands.

The truth is, according to Yahoo News, Texas has only sent 10,000 migrants to Washington D.C. while they have encountered more than 2 million during this fiscal year alone, some 200,000 per month. When they say, “They have seen nothing,” they could not be more right. After less than 10,000 migrants were sent to D.C., Mayor Bowser tried to declare a state of emergency while law enforcement in Texas encountered many migrants at the border every single day.
