According to a former official, the justice department is still investigating Hunter Biden for possible tax violations, illegal foreign lobbying, and false statements involving a gun purchase, and the outcome of the case is “imminent.”

Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a prosecutor appointed by former President Donald Trump, is leading the investigation of Biden, which has reportedly been underway since 2018.
Sources indicated in July that the investigation had reached a “critical stage,” despite the fact that the grand jury for the case had ended its term in June without charges being filed.
A former senior Justice Department official explained, however, that grand juries are not always necessary, especially if charges are filed as part of a plea deal. The fact that politicians and the media have been drawing attention to the case, the official told Fox News, indicates that a resolution may be “imminent.”
Disposing of the case sooner than later could be crucial for Hunter Biden, as Republicans have voiced intent to pursue the investigation vigorously if the GOP retakes the House of Representatives.
Chris Clark, Hunter Biden’s lawyer, pointed out that it is a “federal felony for a federal agent to leak information about a grand jury investigation such as this one.”
“As is proper and legally required, we believe the prosecutors in this case are diligently and thoroughly weighing not just evidence provided by agents but also all the other witnesses in this case, including witnesses for the defense,” Clark stated. “That is the job of the prosecutors.”
“They should not be pressured, rushed or criticized for doing their job,” he added.
In December 2020, it came to light that Hunter Biden was the subject of a grand jury investigation.
Just weeks after his father won the presidential election in 2020, Hunter Biden released a statement regarding the investigation of his “tax affairs.”
“I take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisers,” he stated.
