NewsNation host Chris Cuomo challenged his Democrat guest during a recent interview, taking issue with the claim that former President Donald Trump was the “only one perpetuating violence” in political rhetoric.
Cuomo spoke with MSNBC contributor Brian Tyler Cohen about the two assassination attempts on Trump, the latest of which was thwarted by U.S. Secret Service agents just this past Sunday. He noted that the Trump campaign has called on Democrats to tone down rhetoric that could incite violence.
Cuomo initiated the discussion by asking, “So, why did you guys get in such high dudgeon about what I said that was so obvious? Which is, you guys should be as loud about going after Trump as you are about the danger of hate speech.”
Cohen responded, “I think they’re one and the same. I think the reason that Democrats get so up in arms about this whole idea that Democrats have to disavow violence, is because the only reason this violence is here is expressly because of [Trump]. He’s the only one perpetuating this violence.”

In light of the second assassination attempt and the predictable efforts by legacy media to blame Trump for the current tone of political rhetoric, Trump’s campaign released a list detailing more than 50 instances where Democrats or left-wing pundits had used violent rhetoric directed at him or his supporters.
