CNN Host Say Democrat Said Nothing At DNC

CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings criticized the third night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), remarking during a panel discussion that, despite five hours of speeches, none of the speakers had offered anything meaningful or substantial.

Jennings shared his evaluation during a roundtable discussion hosted by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. He pointed out that, even with a lineup featuring speakers like Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Oprah Winfrey and the night concluding with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz accepting the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential nomination, nothing of significant value was conveyed.

“Nobody tonight said anything. Nobody tonight said a damn thing,” Jennings began. “They want you to vote for a ticket based on absolutely no concrete idea about what they would do once they get in office. You said [Walz] got more progressive when he got elected governor. So you’re saying every time he gets another office he gets more and more progressive. I think that’s exactly what would happen.”

Jennings continued by mocking the Democratic Party’s emphasis on “joy,” pointing out that it lacked substantial underlying content.

“Tonight you did hear people say, ‘Well, we may not agree with him on everything, but at least it will be joyful’… as they tax us into oblivion,” Jennings added.

The Republican commentator concluded with a jab at former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, recalling her awkward push for the Affordable Care Act. Jennings referenced Pelosi’s famous remark that Congress needed to pass the bill before the American people could find out what was in it.

“I think the idea that you could run an entire presidential campaign based on the idea of ‘vote for me to find out what’s in it’ ought to terrify every American,” Jennings said.
