The Hippocratic Oath has served humanity well for at least 2,500 years, but it apparently is not good enough for the woke students of Columbia Medical School. The Class of 2025 decided to amend the revered pledge to fit their modern sensibilities.
Among their new commitments is to “acknowledge and embrace the diversity that exists within all communities.”

Columbia Medicine Magazine reported that the Class of 2025, consisting of 140 members, added a “twist” to the normal White Coat Ceremony. Students chose to rewrite the revered Hippocratic Oath that is recited by medical hopefuls each year.
One Twitter user, upon reading the new oath, pondered the point when “medicine started sounding like a cult.” The posting wondered when the oath became a commitment “of fealty to Neo-Marxist and woke ideology.”
When the oath was recited in front of the gathered students, it included a pledge to “recognize the acts and systems of oppression affected in the name of medicine.” Students then vowed to create a future “grounded in truth, restoration, and equity.”
It hardly stopped there. The new oath pledged to “address systemic issues in the institutions I uphold and “use this knowledge to uplift my patients and disrupt the injustices that harm them.”
Further, the Class of 2025 vowed to “confront unconscious prejudices” and “engender an inclusive, equitable field of medicine.” This medical class was permitted to create their own oath, and each succeeding class will also be able to customize and transform their oaths to fit their ideologies.
Undoubtedly, the oath will get even more radical with each passing year.
Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow Christopher Rufo tweeted that the Columbia Medical School students are doing nothing more than reciting the “mantra of critical race theory.” The DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) framework is only blatant discrimination against the majority.
Rufo also pointed out the new creed of the University of Minnesota’s medical students, who pledge to fight “White supremacy, colonialism, (and) the gender binary.”
This unfortunately appears to be the future of medicine. No longer content with “do no harm,” medical students are transforming into neo-Marxists who spout critical race theory and are more concerned with supposed “equity” than treating the ill.
