Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas continues to draw attention for her controversial statements and behavior in Congress. Her latest outburst occurred during a committee discussion on anti-DEI legislation aimed at removing federal diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
Previously, Crockett had displayed confrontational behavior during a House Oversight Committee hearing regarding Attorney General Merrick Garland’s contempt of Congress, where she engaged in heated exchanges with Republican colleagues. Following a dispute with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, she sought media attention on CNN.

Her rhetoric has raised concerns, particularly when she implied that Trump and his supporters posed a domestic terror threat, coincidentally just before a second assassination attempt on the former president. She also made controversial comments about immigration during an MSNBC appearance, suggesting immigrants were needed for agricultural labor.
During her recent committee appearance, Crockett specifically targeted white men and invoked historical references to slavery. She stated, “It’s because you can then misuse words like oppression. There has been no oppression for the White man in this country.”
She continued, “You tell me which White men were dragged out of their homes. You tell me which one of them got dragged all the way across an ocean and told that you are going to go and work. We are going to steal your lives. We are going to rape your lives. That didn’t happen. That is oppression.”
“We didn’t ask to be here. We’re not the same migrants that you all constantly come up against. We didn’t run away from home. We were stolen.”
Jasmine Crockett goes on a rant about how her people suffered oppression and insists that no one else is allowed to use the word. She then explains her belief in oppression—and it’s rooted in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (D.E.I.)! 🤦♂️

“So, yeah, we are going to sit here and be offended when you want to sit here and act like… And don’t let it escape you. That it is white men on this side of the aisle telling us, people of color on this side of the aisle, that you all are the ones being oppressed, that you all are the ones that are being harmed.”
Critics have pointed out that Crockett, who earns an annual salary of approximately $200,000 as a congresswoman, speaks from a position of privilege despite her claims of victimhood. Some attribute recent Democratic losses to this type of rhetoric.
