Democratic Mayors Complain Illegal Immigrants Are Draining Their Resources

For months, Republicans have called attention to the dangerous game the Biden administration is playing at the southern border, warning of the resource drain and national security threat that an unchecked wave of illegal immigration would unleash on the country.

Of course, neither President Joe Biden nor his many Democratic underlings paid attention to this warning. They chose, instead, to continue playing the political game: satisfy their far-left base with an ever more open border, leave the small towns in Texas and Arizona to pay the price for their recklessness.

Now, however, the tables are turning. As the Biden border crisis continues to worsen and the wave of illegal aliens continues to spread across the country, some Democratic mayors are finally beginning to see the situation for what it’s been from the start: a problem.

In an interview Thursday, New York City’s Democratic mayor complained about the resource drain being caused by the migrant influx, and begged the federal government for help.

“We do need help from the federal government, through FEMA, to assist us,” Mayor Eric Adams said. “This city was already dealing with a shelter population, and we’re going to need help to deal with this unprecedented surge.”

In Washington D.C., Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser was singing a similar tune. When asked last week about who would pay for the city’s migrant-caused resource drain, Bowser shamelessly pointed to the federal government.

“Local taxpayers are not picking up the tab. They should not pick up the tab,” Bowser said. “We really need a coordinated federal response. We know that it’s done for refugees who come to the states from all points of the world and the same has to be done in the situation.”

In the same interview, Bowser claimed that the migrants being bused by Texas’ government from Texas to D.C. were somehow being “tricked” into free cross-country transportation.

“Well, this is a very significant issue,” she said. “We have for sure called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott instituted the bus program, which has transported thousands of illegal immigrants to Washington D.C., after the Biden administration refused to end their “catch and release” practice at the southern border.
