DeSantis Attacks the ‘Corporate Media’ in New Campaign Ad Mirroring Top Gun Movie

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has released an epic new campaign ad mirroring the popular new movie “Top Gun: Maverick,” calling it “Top Gov.”

The ad — which was shared online by Florida’s first lady, Casey DeSantis, on Monday evening — features the governor fighting back against the mainstream media during exchanges he has had with reporters throughout his time in office.

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this is your Governor speaking. Today’s training evolution: dog fighting. Taking on the corporate media,” DeSantis begins, as he is seen wearing a bomber jacket similar to outfits worn by Top Gun star Tom Cruise in the franchise’s two films.

“The rules of engagement are as follows: Number one, don’t fire unless fired upon, but when they fire, you fire back with overwhelming force,” he continues.

The ad then cuts to an exchange between DeSantis and a reporter concerning the Parental Rights in Education legislation passed in Florida earlier this year, which the media relentlessly attacked and smeared, even calling it the “Don’t Say Gay Bill,” without evidence backing up their claims.

“Does it say that in the bill?” the governor fires back at the reporter. “I’m asking you to tell me what’s in the bill.”

“Number two, never ever back down from a fight,” DeSantis continues in the ad.

The video then cuts to a reporter complaining, “If I could just complete the question though –.”

“So are you going to give a speech or ask the question?” DeSantis fires back.

“Number three, don’t accept their narrative,” the governor continues in the ad.

“Wrong. It’s a fake narrative,” DeSantis says in a clip slamming another reporter. “I just disabused you of the narrative and you don’t care about the facts.”

The video then switches to another clip of the governor calling out a reporter, saying that the American people don’t trust the media.

“It’s why people don’t trust people like you, because you peddle false narratives,” DeSantis said to the reporter.

At the end of the ad, DeSantis can be seen in the cockpit of a fighter jet with his son, Mason, who concludes the video by quoting a famous line from the Top Gun movie: “Let’s turn and burn!”
