Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, stated in an interview this week that it is unjust to criticize his wife’s performance over the past three and a half years since she is not the president.
Emhoff made these comments during an ABC News interview on “Good Morning America” following a debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump that was perceived as biased against Trump.
Co-anchor Michael Strahan asked Emhoff if he believed it was fair for people to criticize Harris for the administration’s shortcomings, given her role as border czar, her claim of being the last person in the room regarding Afghanistan, and her tie-breaking vote on the American Rescue Plan, which contributed to the inflation crisis.
“She’s the vice president, not the president. The vice president is there as part of the administration, not leading the administration,” he asserted. “So as president, she’s gonna be able to put forth her policies and plans and effectuate those.”
Second Gentleperson "Doug": Kamala bears no responsibility for the Biden-Harris failures because she's only the second most powerful person in the country, not the first.
Joe Biden himself has admitted that Kamala plays an enormous role in his failed administration.

The Trump campaign responded to Emhoff’s remarks on X, stating, “Second Gentleperson’ Doug’: Kamala bears no responsibility for the Biden-Harris failures because she’s only the second most powerful person in the country, not the first.”
The campaign further argued, “Joe Biden himself has admitted that Kamala plays an enormous role in his failed administration. Kamala brags about being ‘the last person in the room’ on the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal decision. She absolutely owns every failure of the Biden-Harris administration.”
