Ben Affleck has clarified the truth behind FBI agents being spotted at his Brentwood residence, dismissing rumors of an investigation targeting him personally.
Speaking in a GQ cover interview, the actor revealed he first learned about the FBI presence through online reports citing unnamed sources. Intrigued by the unusual situation, he reached out to law enforcement for answers.
Upon investigation, Affleck discovered the FBI visit was connected to a break-in at a federal official’s nearby residence. The agents had inadvertently approached his house while canvassing the area. “Oh, we had no idea that was your house,” they told him.

He also addressed speculation linking the FBI presence to a drone incident in Mandeville Canyon, stating his property was nowhere near that location. “In fact, we were very far from where the drone was,” he said.
The FBI’s press office confirmed their Ground Intercept task force was responding to unauthorized drone activity in the Palisades Fire area, with agents visiting various residences to gather information. Sources indicated they were specifically seeking CCTV footage of a drone that had damaged firefighting equipment.
The incident coincided with wildfire evacuations that forced Affleck to temporarily relocate to ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s home. While his property remained safe, the evacuation order had been in effect.

During the interview, Affleck also discussed his relationships with both Garner and Jennifer Lopez. He praised Garner’s co-parenting abilities and expressed respect for Lopez, though noting their different approaches to public life.
“I guess there’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he shared, maintaining that his split from Lopez was free of scandal but declining to elaborate on personal details.
Affleck’s marriage to Garner, with whom he shares three children, lasted from 2005 to 2018. His subsequent marriage to Lopez in 2022 ended after two years.
