GOP Chair Must Resign Over “Pride Coalition”

GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is being called on to resign by Family Research Council President Tony Perkins because of her actions in starting a Republican “Pride Coalition.”

McDaniel launched the new group at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Florida resort and said it is intended to seek out homosexuals such as those belonging to the conservative Log Cabin Republicans. McDaniel, the niece of Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), said that gay Republicans share “our vision for a free, secure, and prosperous America.”

She added that homosexuals “enrich” the GOP by “adding unique perspectives” and recruiting diverse candidates and supporters.

A former Republican Louisiana representative, Perkins, stated that McDaniel should resign her post within the party. On Wednesday, he said it is “time for her to take up something else” so that conservative Republicans can regain the majority in Congress and “continue to see victories” in the states around the country.

Perkins added that McDaniel has “outlived her purpose” in the party. He said that if Republicans become “Democrat-lite,” they will begin to lose immediately because the party’s support comes from social conservatives. He stressed that he wants to see the party advance a “values platform” based on the values that made America great.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) tweeted in support of Perkins’ position, saying that “using people for their identity” is a Democratic, not Republican, strategy. She said that she believes that partnering with the Log Cabin Republicans hurts their fundraising and “weakens their effectiveness.”

Matt Walsh with the Daily Wire criticized the “RNC Pride Coalition” by saying that the Republican Party “officially serves no purpose” if it is going to “fully embrace leftist gender identity politics.”

He sarcastically added that the strategy of adopting leftist cultural positions to prove that Republicans are “modern and hip” has “worked so well for the last three decades.”
