Government workers worried Trump will fire them after victory

Following the historic victory of President-elect Donald Trump in Tuesday’s election, reports suggest that some federal bureaucrats under the Biden-Harris administration are preparing to depart from their positions.

According to reports, officials in the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are reportedly seeking new employment opportunities.

Trump’s announcement in March 2023 to reinstate his 2020 executive order establishing the Schedule F employment category for federal employees has likely contributed to this exodus. This order would facilitate the removal of underperforming and insubordinate bureaucrats from an estimated pool of 50,000 eligible candidates.

In contrast, President Joe Biden had revoked Trump’s Schedule F in January 2021 and recently introduced a rule aimed at further protecting federal bureaucrats from accountability and potential dismissal under a framework similar to Schedule F.

Despite the challenges in reversing this rule, Trump has pledged to “clean house” and remove officials accused of targeting Americans.

Reports indicate that DOJ and FBI officials are concerned about Trump fulfilling his promise to be “retribution” for citizens who were allegedly wrongfully targeted.

Trump stated at a 2023 CPAC event, “In 2016, I declared: I am your voice. Today, I add: I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.”

Meanwhile, sources indicate that special counsel Jack Smith is attempting to conclude a pair of federal cases against Trump before his inauguration in January, as reported by UPI on Wednesday.

Throughout his campaign, Trump repeatedly vowed to dismiss Smith “within two seconds” of taking office. His legal team is now considering their next steps.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung issued a statement saying, “The American people have re-elected President Trump with an overwhelming mandate to Make America Great Again. It is now abundantly clear that Americans want an immediate end to the weaponization of our justice system, so we can, as President Trump said in his historic speech last night, unify our country and work together for the betterment of our nation.”

Recently, Judge Tanya Chutkan canceled all deadlines and ongoing proceedings in the DOJ’s election interference case against Trump at Smith’s request, as reported by Breitbart News.

The article noted that “For Smith, who emerged as the face of Trump’s legal opposition, more trouble could be ahead after his absolute failure to prosecute Trump.”

Trump, alongside his running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), secured victory in the 2024 presidential election on Tuesday, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris (D) and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN).

Breitbart News highlighted that Trump “will become the first person to win back the Oval Office after losing a reelection bid since Democrat Grover Cleveland in 1892.”
