In a tragic incident Wednesday morning, Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealth Group’s insurance division, was fatally shot outside a Manhattan hotel in what authorities believe was a targeted attack, according to multiple news sources.
The shooting occurred at approximately 6:46 a.m. in front of 1335 Avenue of the Americas, where the Hilton Hotel is located. NYC has some of the strictest gun laws. That doesn't prevent the execution of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by a gunman using a gun with a silencer attached.
It appears overreaching gun laws don't work.

Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that the assailant, who was wearing a mask, had apparently been waiting for Thompson before opening fire multiple times and fleeing eastward from Sixth Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect lingering near the hotel prior to the incident.
The suspect, described as a white male, was dressed in black attire including a hoodie, pants, and sneakers with white trim, and carried a gray backpack. According to sources familiar with the matter, the perpetrator used a firearm equipped with a silencer.
The shooting disrupted UnitedHealth Group’s investor day, which was being held at the hotel. Company officials announced the event’s cancellation, stating, “I’m afraid that we — some of you may know we’re dealing with very serious medical situation with one of our team members. And as a result, I’m afraid we’re going to have to bring to a close the event today, which I’m sure you’ll understand.”
The CEO of insurance giant UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, who was fatally gunned down in Manhattan today, was under DOJ investigation.
Was he about to take a plea deal and reveal all about congressional favors that gained them their monopoly?

Police sources revealed that after shooting Thompson multiple times from a distance, the suspect escaped through the Ziegfeld alley on a bicycle. While the shooter wasn’t a hotel guest, their potential connection to the location remains unclear.
Thompson, who was based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, had devoted two decades to UnitedHealthcare, ascending to the CEO position in 2021. He led UnitedHealthcare, which stands as the nation’s largest private health insurance provider.
The investigation remains active, with no arrests made at this time. UnitedHealth Group has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.
