Twice-unsuccessful Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton recently argued that the media should push a “consistent narrative” portraying former President Donald Trump as a “danger,” despite him having survived multiple assassination attempts. Her comments came during a special edition of PBS News’ “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover” at the Clinton Global Initiative.
“I think it is existential,” Clinton said regarding the threat she believes Trump poses to American democracy. “And I say that based on what he says, and what Project 2025 proposes as the agenda for a second Trump term.”
Host Margaret Hoover did not challenge Clinton’s attempt to link Trump to Project 2025 despite Trump’s repeated condemnations of the initiative and lack of involvement with it.
Clinton also claimed Trump directed numerous investigations against her, describing herself as “the most investigated innocent person you have ever met in your entire life.”
“The press needs a consistent narrative about the danger that Trump poses,” she continued. “Because, you know, people may still look at the danger or say, ‘I don’t care. It doesn’t, you know, it doesn’t affect me. I’m going to vote for him for X, Y, or Z.’”
Clinton further suggested that “something will happen in October” involving Vice President Kamala Harris, hinting that it would be instigated by the Russians.
“There will be concerted efforts to distort and pervert Kamala Harris, who she is, what she stands for, what she’s done,” she stated. “So I don’t know what it’s going to be, but it will be something and we’ll have to work very, very hard to make sure that it is exposed as the lie that it is.”
