Lester Holt’s UNFAVORABLE OUTCOME
On Monday, Lester Holt of NBC News was the target of President Biden’s constant criticism of the media’s alleged disregard for former President Trump’s “lies” in favor of criticizing his performance during the first presidential debate.
Holt’s questions shifted from the Trump assassination attempt to the discussion and its fallout. When Biden appeared confused about whether he had watched the debate in his most recent TV interview, the reporter questioned him about it. The president retorted that he had watched parts of the debate but not the entire thing.
I suppose the question is, are all of you in the White House in agreement? That’s why I’m asking. Are you observing what they observed—that is, to be honest, the times when you were perplexed?” Holt queried.
“Lester, take a look,” Biden said. “Why don’t you guys ever discuss the lies he told on pages 18 and 28? On this, where are you at? Why is that never covered by the media? It has been verified that he lied in that discussion 28 times. I had a really awful night. I was feeling really sick. I made a mistake and had been.” Holt went on, “I just ask the question because the idea that you may or may not have seen what some of these other folks have seen, you’re not on the same-“
“I was not required to see. I was present. Biden said something in response. “By the way, seriously, you won’t answer the question, but why didn’t the press talk about all the lies he told?”
“We have reported many of the issues that came up during the debate,” Holt replied.
“No, you haven’t. You haven’t, Biden emphasized.
Holt replied, “We’ll give them to you.”
“God bless you,” was Biden’s sly response.
Biden used the interview to criticize the media. He also shot back when Holt brought up remarks made by Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance about him.
“Take a look at what he said about Trump; he said some things about me. What’s wrong with you two? Man, come on,” Biden exclaimed. When asked if he would be open to debating Trump prior to the next one, which is set for September, he once again pushed back against Holt.
“If the opportunity came up to do [another debate] between now and then, is there a sense of wanting to get back on that horse?” Holt queried.
“I’ve mounted the horse! Have you been somewhere? I have performed for thousands of people on 22 significant occasions, drawing large crowds. Lots going on,” Biden answered.
Biden also said, “Sometime I’ll come and talk to you about what we should be talking about, okay? ” near the end of the interview. The problems.”
“Always happy to talk,” Holt answered. NBC has fact-checked Trump’s remarks on many occasions, characterizing him as launching a “torrent of misinformation on topics from terrorism to taxes” during the debate, despite Biden’s accusations that the network was ignoring his remarks. In contrast, Trump made a number of untruthful and deceptive claims in his remarks. Even when Biden was questioned about other matters, he continued to grill him about immigration and the border. Additionally, he consistently sidestepped inquiries on his acceptance of the election’s outcome, according to a different NBC story.
Following their dismal debate with Trump, a number of Democratic officials and media analysts have urged Biden to withdraw from the race.
