House Speaker Mike Johnson Calls Out VP Harris During Southern California Border Visit

House Speaker Mike Johnson TARGETS Harris

During a border visit to Southern California, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) attacked Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of permitting noncitizens to vote.

Johnson made these remarks on Friday while accompanying Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) to the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The Republican leader criticized Democrats and pushed Congress to enact an election integrity bill that forbids illegal aliens from casting ballots in U.S. elections, referring to San Diego as “the epicenter of the Biden-Harris border catastrophe.”

As he held a press conference at the migrant hot spot, Johnson said he believes roughly 16 million illegal immigrants entered the country under the Biden-Harris administration. The Republican leader went on to criticize “the border czar and radical Kamala Harris from San Francisco,” claiming that she “bears responsibility for this disaster.”

Johnson was concerned that “just a fraction” of illegal immigrants may influence the outcome of the 2024 presidential election and shift important legislative districts if they cast ballots.

The speaker of the House voiced concerns over 1990s voter registration legislation, saying they would allow undocumented immigrants to cast ballots in US elections.

“If someone goes to the local office to sign up for public benefits, they’re also handed a short form that says, ‘Do you want to register to vote?’” Johnson warned during the press conference. He said it is “outrageous” that “there’s no proof required” to vote and claimed Harris “wants to allow illegal aliens to decide American elections.”

According to California law, an individual must be both a resident of California and a citizen of the United States in order to register to vote. The last four digits of your Social Security number, a driver’s license, a state ID, and proof of your birthdate are among the registration requirements documents; nevertheless, they may not indicate citizenship.

Johnson stated that maintaining election integrity depends on the SAVE Act, which was approved by the House earlier this month. “Kamala Harris and 198 House Democrats” were criticized by Johnson for their opposition to the bill requiring identification to vote. “Only Americans should decide American elections,” Johnson said.
