During a CNN “State of the Union” appearance, Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) defended President-elect Donald Trump against accusations of seeking political retribution, emphasizing the Republican Party’s stance against such practices.

When host Dana Bash referenced Trump’s numerous threats to prosecute various political figures, including Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Liz Cheney, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, General Mark Milley, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, and New York AG Letitia James, Jordan pointed to Trump’s first term record, stating, “He did not do it in his first term.”

Upon Bash’s follow-up about a potential second term, Jordan emphasized his opposition to what he termed “lawfare” and political targeting. “What I support is stopping this lawfare, stopping this political targeting, political cases. We all know the Fani Willis case and the Jack Smith cases were driven by politics. The American people understood it, and that is why they had that overwhelming win for Trump. I’m against the retribution. I’m against and the Justice Department saying if your mom and dad show up for a school board meeting we will investigate you.”

When pressed further about Trump’s repeated statements regarding prosecution, Jordan maintained his position, declaring, “I don’t think any of that will happen. We are the party against political prosecution. We are the party against lawfare.”
