A new report from Just The News exposes the fact that most of the recent mass shootings in America have occurred in states with strict gun laws, and high ratings from the anti-gun lobby.
Aside from the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, the worst shooting since the start of COVID, a majority happened in states with at least a “B” rating from the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.
Giffords, named after Gabby Giffords, the former Democrat Congresswoman shot and nearly killed by a gunman in 2011, is a powerful anti-gun group dedicated to “reducing shootings.”
But according to Giffords, the worst mass shootings are actually occurring in states with gun laws that they approve of.
Excluding familial murder-suicides, “half of the ten deadliest mass shootings over this period occurred in states that received at least an “A-” gun law grade,” Just The News’ report reveals.
California is ranked as the state with the strongest gun laws according to Giffords, boasting an “A” score. However, three of the ten worst mass shootings occurred within its borders.
According to Just The News, California prohibits weapons with “high-capacity” magazines:
“The state says it generally prohibits “large-capacity” magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and warns residents who were arrested without having charges filed against them that they may be unable to obtain a license to own a firearm, among other things.
New York and Illinois both have “A-” grades for gun laws by Giffords. Both states restrict the carrying of firearms and ban certain types of weapons.
Just three of the states where the ten worst shootings occurred have “F” grades: Texas, Georgia and Alabama.”
Just The News’ report comes just days after a deadly Monterey Park, California shooting took the lives of 11 people at a dance studio.
Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter to question the media’s spotty coverage of the shooting, questioning whether the story has quieted down because the shooting was not carried out by a “white conservative man with an assault rifle.”
“You think you’d hear a lot more about the mass shooting of 10 people in California… But don’t worry you won’t hear anything about it because it wasn’t done by a white conservative man with an assault rifle. Doesn’t work for the narrative so it basically never happened,” Trump wrote.
