Randy Moss, the NFL legend, has recently disclosed his private battle with cancer during an emotional Instagram Live session on Friday. The 47-year-old former football star shared his experience after spending six days in the hospital.

“I’ve told y’all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally, and your boy is a cancer survivor,” the retired athlete, 47, announced in an Instagram Live video on Friday.

“I’ve been in the hospital for six days. I just got out today — thank God!”

Doctors discovered cancer in Moss’s system during a procedure to insert a liver stent, necessitated by waste leaking into his urine. The cancer was specifically located between his pancreas and liver in the bowel duct.

“They found it in the bowel duct, right in-between the pancreas and the liver,” the former New England Patriots wide receiver said.

“So my doctors … they went in, I had a six-hour surgery. Dr. Martini, you’re the man, I had a Whipple procedure. I am forever grateful.”

The Whipple procedure, as described by the Mayo Clinic, involves removing several organs including the pancreas head, initial portion of the small intestine, gallbladder, and bile duct to treat various tumors and conditions.

Despite facing these challenging times, Moss expressed gratitude for his recovery. His health battle explained his recent absence from “Sunday NFL Countdown,” during which he had requested prayers without revealing the specific nature of his illness.

He had previously posted on Instagram: “I’m battling something, man, and it’s something internal. Your boy is going to get through it. I got a great team of doctors and got a great family around me. All you men, do your checkups and get your bloodwork done.”

Moss assured viewers of his eventual return to broadcasting, while receiving an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues.

The Patriots organization showed their support through an Instagram post: “We have celebrated so many tremendous catches by Randy Moss during his Hall of Fame career, but none more important than his most recent catch. Randy Moss doesn’t lose one-on-one matchups. Cancer is about to get Mossed and Patriots fans everywhere will continue to celebrate! 🙏❤️”
