Oliver Stone backs Trump, slams Democrat Russian claims

Left-wing filmmaker Oliver Stone has voiced strong criticism of Democrats while expressing support for President Trump’s actions regarding the Russian collusion investigation. The acclaimed director openly condemned Democratic efforts to link Trump with Russian interference in the 2016 election, characterizing their approach as dishonest.

He specifically endorsed Trump’s recent initiatives to uncover the truth behind these allegations. President Trump’s latest executive order demands immediate declassification of Crossfire Hurricane documents, the 2016 investigation exploring potential Russian collaboration with Trump campaign members.

The administration has also taken measures against involved law firms, including revoking security clearances and restricting access to federal facilities. “Russiagate – we paid for it,” Stone said. “I applaud [what Trump is doing], and I hate what they did with Russiagate, I really do. I think it’s – again, the lying, the lying, the lying, and selling that to the American people.” When questioned about Trump’s claims of federal agencies being weaponized against conservatives, Stone confirmed: “There was.” Stone, known for producing Russia-friendly documentaries about Ukraine, challenged the fundamental assumption that Russia poses a threat.

He suggested that both Russia and China could be valuable allies rather than adversaries. “They are potentially our best partners, as are the Chinese. I mean, we have this mentality that they’re the enemy,” Stone said. “That’s all been inculcated by propaganda. If you go out there to China, and you go out to Russia, you don’t hear that kind of vituperative dialogue.”

Despite backing Trump’s Russiagate stance, Stone expressed disagreement with the president’s recent criticism of pro-Palestinian demonstrators over antisemitism concerns. “I don’t like this new thing about censorship coming from Trump,” said Stone. “Against the anti – what he calls ‘antisemitic news’ – I mean, I don’t agree. I don’t know where he’s coming from, and it’s not what he promised.”
