In a notable pre-Christmas incident, authorities apprehended a 31-year-old repeat offender who had accumulated his 35th arrest, according to WOFL-TV. The latest incident occurred in Florida on December 23.

According to Edgewater Police, Kevin Campana, who was barefoot at the time, burglarized Hibiscus Wholesale Auto Parts Inc. and made off with a vehicle. The incident took place in Edgewater, a coastal community located approximately 30 minutes from Daytona Beach.

Law enforcement reported that Campana attempted to evade capture in the stolen vehicle, leading to a pursuit that ended when he collided head-on with a K-9 unit vehicle.

Authorities filed multiple charges against Campana, including burglary, theft, and attempting to evade law enforcement. Police revealed that prior to this incident, Campana had been free on bond following a December 18 arrest for attempted burglary at Mullinax Ford of Central Florida dealership.

Records indicate Campana’s history with law enforcement began on September 18, 2011, when he was arrested at age 18, WOFL reported. The station noted that burglary charges dominated his arrest record.

The Edgewater Police Department shared their account of the arrest on Facebook with a festive twist:

‘Twas the eve of Christmas Eve, and all through the town, a criminal named Kevin was causing a frown.
He broke into Hibiscus, with no shoes on his feet, and stole a customer’s car — what a real Christmas treat!
But Kevin’s crime spree didn’t stop there, he drove like a man with nowhere to spare.
Through backroads and alleys, he tried to escape, but Edgewater’s finest had set the perfect shape.
He thought he could outrun, but he couldn’t get far, when he met K-9 units head-on in his car.
The ride got disabled, and he started to cry, thinking that maybe, just maybe, he’d get by.
Well, Kevin was wrong — we had him that day, charged with burglary, theft, and fleeing the fray.
So here’s a reminder, from the EPD crew:
Don’t commit crimes, and don’t try to flee too!
Merry Christmas to all, and to criminals a warning, don’t make us work on your holiday morning!
We’ll catch you, we’ll stop you, we’ll always prevail, in Edgewater, no one escapes the law’s trail!
