Trump: Bragg Should Drop ‘Election Interference’ Case ‘Immediately’

During a Tuesday evening speech at Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump argued that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) case “was brought only to interfere with the upcoming 2024 election and it should be dropped immediately.”

Trump made the comments while speaking to a crowd of supporters after he flew back from New York following his arraignment. The former president was indicted last week in a case that centers on a supposed “hush money” payment made by his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. The supposed crime — a misdemeanor — is well past the two-year statute of limitations, but Bragg is attempting to elevate it to a felony.

On Tuesday, Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.

Now, the former president is calling out Bragg for his “election interference” — pointing out that the case is just an attempt to hinder his 2024 presidential campaign. He also compared it to the Democrats’ past election interference — when they suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story by falsely claiming that it was “Russian disinformation” during the 2020 election cycle.

“Our elections were like those of a third-world country,” Trump said.

“And now, this massive election interference at a scale never seen before in our country,” he continued. “Beginning with the radical left, George Soros-backed prosecutor Alvin Bragg of New York, who campaigned on the fact that he would ‘get President Trump, I gotta get him. I’m gonna get him.’ This is a guy campaigning. You want to get President Trump at any cost, and this before he knew anything about me. He didn’t know a thing about me. He was campaigning.”

Trump went on to point out that even anti-Trump Republicans and “hardcore Democrats” have spoken out against Bragg’s attempt to prosecute him.

“As it turns out, virtually everybody that has looked at this case, including RINOs, and even hardcore Democrats say there is no crime and that it should never have been brought. Never have been brought,” he said. “Everybody, even people that aren’t big fans have said that, they said this is not the right thing to do. It’s an insult to our country as the world is already laughing at us.”

The 2024 presidential candidate also blasted his likely opponent, President Joe Biden, for his failed leadership — including the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, the failing economy, and skyrocketing crime — before returning to discussing the case against him.

“This fake case was brought only to interfere with the upcoming 2024 election. And it should be dropped immediately,” Trump said.
