Former President Donald Trump is speaking out following a new report that text messages from the House January 6 Select Committee’s “surprise” witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, showed her calling the investigation “bs.”
“Lyin’ Cassidy Hutchinson, who the fake news media refuses to properly reveal, recently called the January 6 Unselect Committee ‘B.S.’ Gee, that wasn’t reported by LameStream!” Trump wrote on Monday in a post on Truth Social.
Hutchinson, who served as an aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows during the final days of the Trump administration, recently testified before the committee, making several easily debunked allegations against the former president. Some of her claims were so outlandish that even mainstream media outlets were forced to report that they were likely false.
Following her testimony, several Secret Service agents who were with Trump on January 6 came forward and indicated that they were willing to testify under oath that Hutchinson’s story was false.
Now, it appears that Hutchinson initially didn’t even think the January 6 committee was legitimate from the beginning, reinforcing Trump’s claims soon after her testimony that she was simply seeking attention through testifying.
According to an exclusive report from the Daily Caller, Hutchinson sent a text message in February referring to the committee as “bs,” shorthand for “bullsh*t.”
“I had to accept service because the U.S. Marshals came to my apartment last Wednesday, but I haven’t made contact with the committee,” the text from Hutchinson to a redacted recipient read, according to the report. “I’m just on a tight timeline and just trying to figure out what my options are to deal with this bs.”
The former White House aide had recently changed lawyers, according to a post from Trump on Truth Social in which he alleged that her initial testimony behind closed doors to the January 6 Committee had likely changed when she testified publicly as the “surprise” witness on June 28.
