In a significant economic move against Venezuela’s regime, President Trump declared Monday that nations purchasing Venezuelan oil or gas will face steep consequences. The measure imposes a 25% tariff on all US trade with countries engaging in oil or gas transactions with Venezuela.
Under President Trump, countries that purchase oil from Venezuela will pay a 25% tariff.
Under Joe Biden, the United States begged Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro for oil.

“Any Country that purchases Oil and/or Gas from Venezuela will be forced to pay a Tariff of 25% to the United States on any Trade they do with our Country,” Trump wrote in an extensive Truth Social statement.

The administration plans to implement these new trade restrictions beginning April 2, coinciding with Trump’s scheduled announcement of broader reciprocal tariff measures worldwide.
