An IRS whistleblower alleged that the Department of Justice (DOJ) improperly utilized its influence in the investigation into President Joe Biden’s son Hunter. The informant’s information comes as another IRS whistleblower alleged that Hunter Biden pressured a Chinese businessman by claiming that his father was in the room with him.
According to information revealed by the House Ways and Means Committee the investigation into the president’s son began in 2018 from an unexpected source. IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley said that the probe began due to an IRS investigation into a “foreign-based amateur online pornography platform.”
The federal investigators deemed the president’s son under the codename “Sportsman.”
According to the whistleblower, U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who ultimately charged Biden with tax and firearms charges this week, sought to charge him twice in 2022. His efforts were reportedly denied by the U.S. attorneys representing the Central District of California and Washington D.C.
Shapley said the efforts were “discouraged” by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf.
The testimony appears to contradict earlier statements by Attorney General Merrick Garland, who testified before Congress that Weiss was empowered to bring charges against Hunter Biden without reservation. Garland also said that there was no improper influence in the investigation.

The IRS whistleblower sat before the House Ways and Means Committee last month. He headed the investigation into the president’s son in 2020. He also testified that the investigation found more information regarding foreign income directed to the Biden family.
This allegedly included a text message from Hunter Biden to a Chinese businessman that pressured him into solving an unresolved conflict. The president’s son implied that his father Joe Biden was in the room with him.
He said that if the businessman Henry Zhao did not comply with his wishes, “I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction.”
“I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father,” the message reportedly reads.
