Ilhan Omar’s Daughter Arrested At Anti-Israel Protest

The daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was arrested following her actions at a pro-Palestinian protest rally earlier this month. Despite the arrest, the representative said that she was proud of her daughter.

There have been considerable protest activities at the nation’s colleges, including at Columbia University, which Omar’s daughter took part in.

The representative wrote that she was “enormously proud” of her daughter Isra Hirsi. Hirsi’s X profile includes a hammer and sickle, the symbol of the Communist Party. Omar said that he daughter organized a number of protests, including the anti-Israel rally at Columbia.

Omar said that her daughter was “pushing her school to stand against genocide.” The protests rallied against the Israeli war against the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza.

“Stepping up to change what you can’t tolerate is why we as a country have the right to speech, assembly and petition enshrined in our constitution,” wrote Omar on social media.

The student protesters set up a “Gaza Solidarity Encampment,” which the college demanded that they leave. When the students refused, more than 100 were arrested on Thursday, including Hirsi.

The congresswoman’s daughter will face trespassing charges and was suspended from a partner school of Columbia University.

Omar’s comments were echoed by her ally in the House, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) who said that the students were facing retaliation for their protests, calling the arrests “appalling.”

The cuffing comes as anti-Israel protests have grown in recent months in the United States and around the world.

In addition, there were a number of pro-Palestinian protests that disrupted travel earlier this month. This included demonstrators shutting down both the Brooklyn and Golden Gate Bridges. The shutdown of the Golden Gate left the bridge closed for much of the way before the protesters were removed.

In addition, protesters in Dearborn, Michigan created a long convoy, which disrupted travel in the heavily Muslim-American city. Several of the drivers were arrested and several cars were impounded following the incident.

A previous protest in the city had a speaker who chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
