Trump Doubts Biden Will Be Nominee

Former President Donald Trump intimated that President Joe Biden will not be the Democratic nominee for president in November. The statements came during a campaign rally and follows increased concern about Biden’s age and mental acuity, especially following the release of special counsel Robert Hur’s report.

Trump asked a rally over the weekend whether or not the audience believed that Biden would be the nominee in November. Trump followed with similar comments during a radio interview.

“My attitude is that whatever it is, it is, but do I think he’s going to make it? Probably not,” Trump said.

“Most people disagree with this vehemently,” Trump said.

Trump called Biden “so bad” and the “worst president we have ever had, but he polls better than other people, including Michelle Obama. He polls better than other people. Explain that one.”

There has been speculation that former First Lady Michelle Obama could be the Democratic Party’s nominee if Biden withdraws from the White House stakes.

Trump’s comments also came after multiple polls released in recent months showed that most voters are concerned about Biden’s age and ability to serve effectively in the White House. Some recent polls also showed that a majority of Democrats are concerned about Biden’s ability to do his job.

According to the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, a large majority of Americans said that Biden was “too old” to be an effective president. Among the general public, 47% said that they “strongly agree” with the idea, with 26% who “somewhat agree.”

Overall, 74% of the public believes that Biden is too old for the job. Only 25% disagreed with the sentiment that Biden’s age is a major factor, with only 11% saying that they “strongly disagree.”

On the other hand, just 42% total believe that Trump is too old for the office, less than those who “strongly agree” with the sentiment about Biden. This includes only 21% who strongly believe that Trump is too old. A majority of 55% believe that Trump is not too old to serve effectively.
