An IRS investigator alleged in a letter to Congress that the Department of Justice (DOJ) restricted the investigation into President Joe Biden’s son Hunter.
The letter, written by the unnamed IRS official said that “he and his entire investigative team are being removed from the ongoing and sensitive investigation” into Hunter Biden.
The whistleblower’s attorney wrote that this “change was at the request of the Department of Justice.”
The change appears to contradict an earlier statement from Attorney General Merrick Garland that the Biden administration would not interfere in the probe.
The letter requests that Republicans in Congress review the circumstances related to the change.

“Removing the experienced investigators who have worked this case for years and are now the subject-matter experts is exactly the sort of issue our client intended to blow the whistle on to begin with,” the letter said.
The latest revelations come as the investigation into the president’s son may be heading toward a conclusion. Federal investigators have been probing the younger Biden over potential tax and firearm violations for the previous five years.
The president recently weighed in on the probe, telling MSNBC that his son has done “nothing wrong.”
Biden was asked how Hunter’s conduct affected his time in the White House.

House Republicans expanded their look into Hunter Biden’s past, recently releasing a report about millions of dollars that the president’s son allegedly secured from foreign governments.
The investigation includes the House Oversight Committee. The chair of the committee, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said that “Joe Biden lied to the American people about his involvement in his family’s business schemes.”
The Kentucky Republican added that if the president is “compromised by deals with foreign adversaries,” then this would be a “threat to national security.”
“Oversight Committee Republicans will continue pressing for answers to inform legislative solutions to prevent this abuse of power,” Comer said.
