Low Approval For Biden Among Independents

President Joe Biden is suffering some of the lowest polling numbers of any president in modern American history. While most national polls now show former President Donald Trump leading Biden in a rematch, the current president is especially ailing among independent voters, who will likely decide the election.

A recent CNN poll found that Biden has just a 34% approval rating among independents. A further 66% say they disapprove of his job performance.

However, there is further bad news for Biden throughout the poll. When independents were asked whether Biden deserved to be reelected, just 30% agreed with the statement, while 70% disagreed.

A recent CNN poll found that Biden has just a 34% approval rating among independents. A further 66% say they disapprove of his job performance.

Biden also suffered among a number of demographic groups that generally vote for Democrats. Among younger voters, Biden has a narrow lead.

This group of voters under 35 would vote 49% for Biden and 46% for Trump. Non-White voters would support Biden at much lower numbers than before. Among this group, 57% supported Biden, while 35% supported Biden. Other recent polls showed a significant decline in Black and Latino support for Biden compared to the 2020 results.

National election polling has mostly been bad news for the president in recent months. Trump leads in most national polls, as well as surveys taken in swing states that will probably decide the Electoral College.

In eleven recent national polls, Trump leads in eight of them. Biden leads in two, including one with a 1% lead. In one poll, the two candidates tie with 44% each.

Other recent surveys indicate that a majority of American voters believe that the economy was significantly stronger during the Trump presidency compared to today. Biden also scores poorly in other metrics, including personal likeability in many recent polls.

The polling issue appears to get worse for Biden when independent candidates, such as activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., are added. In many polls, Trump extends his lead in these scenarios.
