State Senator Seeks Possible Fulton County DA Impeachment

A member of the Georgia state legislature is seeking the impeachment of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D), who is leading the prosecution of former President Donald Trump. State Sen. Colton Moore (R) announced his support for impeaching Willis, calling for an emergency session of the state legislature to “review the actions of Fani Willis.”

“America is under attack. I’m not going to sit back and watch as radical left prosecutors politically TARGET political opponents,” Moore said.

The state senator wrote to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) arguing that “in our opinion, an emergency exists in the affairs of the state” calling for a special session of the legislature.

The official also shared a petition under his statement on social media, which stated that Willis was “potentially abusing her position of power by pursuing former President Donald J. Trump” and asked whether such actions “warrant impeachment.”

“The politically-motivated weaponization of our justice system at the expense of taxpayers will not be tolerated,” he wrote. “I am demanding that we defund her office until we find out what the hell is going on. We cannot stand idly by as corrupt prosecutors choose to target their political opposition.”

Moore was not the only prominent official to criticize Willis’ actions. The Trump 2024 campaign issued a statement saying that the prosecutor comes from a “family steeped in hate” and that she is the “daughter of a former Black Panther.”

The former president said on Fox News this week that Willis’ case was a “witch-hunt.”

“They want to silence you, really silence you,” he said. “And they mean silence.”

Trump called the prosecutors “suck people” who “have no idea how the world works, and they have no idea the anger they cause. We have a tremendous group of people in this country, and I’m not just talking about Republicans. We have them on both sides, and we have a lot of them.”

The former president said that Republicans could not let Willis and her team “get away with it. The Republicans have to be tough.”
