Republicans Praise Hunter Biden Conviction

A number of prominent Republicans praised the conviction of Hunter Biden this week as President Joe Biden’s son was found guilty of three federal firearms felonies. The statements came as the president’s son could face up to 25 years in prison.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on social media that the Hunter Biden trial “has been nothing more than a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden crime Family, which has raked in tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia and Ukraine.”

“Crooked Joe Biden’s reign over the Biden Family criminal Empire is all coming to an end on Nov. 5, and never again will a Biden sell government access for personal profit,” she wrote.

“Today’s verdict is a step toward accountability,” said House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY). Comer is leading one of the investigations against Hunter Biden and his family.

Comer said that until the “Department of Justice investigates everyone involved in the Bidens’ corrupt influence peddling schemes that generated over $18 million in foreign payments to the Biden family, it will be clear department officials continue to cover for the Big Guy, Joe Biden.”

“Now it’s time for DOJ to investigate the millions of dollars in payouts from foreign countries looking to curry favor with his father,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

Despite the conviction, the legal trouble for Hunter Biden has not ended. He also faces a separate federal trial regarding tax allegations. He is accused of not filing taxes on millions of dollars of income for several years.

The president’s son was originally offered a plea deal by special counsel David Weiss that would have likely spared him serving any jail time. However, this was rejected by the judge in the case. The prospective plea deal drew considerable criticism from Republicans at the time.

Joe Biden could be seen hugging his son following the verdict Tuesday following the announcement. The president previously said that he would not pardon his son.
