A reporter reported that Border Patrol officials in the Rio Grande Valley were swamped over the weekend. Thousands of illegal immigrants were encountered and freed before being given bus tickets to wherever they wanted to go in the United States. According to Fox News national reporter Bill Melugin, Border Patrol stations in McAllen, Texas, are 585 percent full if we go deeper into the specifics.
Additionally, according to Griff Jenkins of Fox News, border officers in the Rio Grande Valley had 3,002 engagements with illegal immigrants in the preceding 24 hours, as well as 8,144 encounters with migrants during the weekend.
Moreover, Unprecedented numbers of migrants are attempting to enter the United States illegally. According to Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, agents of the Department of Homeland Security met over 180,000 illegal immigrants at the southern border in July, up from 188,829 in June. Over 1.1 million migrants have overloaded the Biden administration’s immigration enforcement authorities this fiscal year.
Additionally, the influx of migrants is so high that thousands of people are freed without a date for appeal after detention, and immigration cases are reviewed. However, the issue is especially severe in Cuellar, where local leaders urge the administration of Biden to take prompt and decisive action to equip DHS officers in the Rio Grande Valley with more excellent resources and stop the admission of more immigrants immediately.
Furthermore, the drone video showed up to 1,000 migrants being held by Border Patrol at the Anzalduas Bridge in Mission, Texas, near a familiar border crossing spot. Conversely, according to the Melugin reports, after being arrested by Border Patrol, the migrants were released to a Catholic charity that provides shelter and food before being granted bus or plane tickets to other parts of the US.
Rio Grande Valley Catholic Charities has provided humanitarian help to migrants while swamped by the Border Patrol’s surge. Exacerbating the problem is the potential of unvaccinated COVID-19 positive migrants being discharged into American neighborhoods. Last week, Greg Abbott of Texas announced that the Texas National Guard would help federal authorities in prosecuting undocumented immigrants.
